When we look back at this photograph, years from now, we will remember...
"Oh, yes! This was the first 4th of July parade since 2019 (the 2020 parade was cancelled because of COVID-19). This one happened in the pouring rain but we went anyway. It was the year we got our dog, Teddy and he was 10 months old (exactly!) in this picture. It was the summer before Alex went to 5th grade and the summer before Megan went to third grade. Mom just turned 42. Naya didn't really want to stand in the rain but we convinced her to stay. Alex and Naya sang "America the Beautiful" and "God Bless America" as the marching band strode past us, rain soaking them as they played on. A man got out of his car and asked us to hold these bumper stickers for a photograph and then we saw ourselves on their Facebook page the next day. Mom told Megan not to wear her slides because her feet would get all wet and Megan kept trying to jump in puddles. Teddy wore his yellow rain slicker, to his chagrin. He was still soaked and fully smelled wet-dogish. Naya took Teddy and Megan home for a while to dry off and then came back with just Megan, giving Teddy a respite from the rain. It wasn't our best parade, but it was one we won't ever forget!"

I love that you have the photo to remind you of all the milestones and memories. Not the best parade day but unforgettable no doubt!

This photo says EVERYTHING it needs to say! I remember WAY back in the day when I was a cub scout leader for our troop, and we were marching in the parade. It. Was. A. DOWNPOUR. And yet, as happened with you, we still found a way to make some memories from the whole experience. I also think the dog looks the least thrilled out of the whole bunch. Here's to all the stories and laughs you'll share from the day.
