Courage Doesn't Always Roar:
The Quest to Be Better Each Day

Tom Petty had it right- The waiting is the hardest part #SOL19

I've never been a good waiter.

And by "waiter", I don't mean the person who serves you food and drinks at a restaurant. I mean, a person who longs for something to happen and is impatient.

When I was little, I hated waiting for Christmas. I would make an Advent chain come early November. The links would wrap around my bedroom, as if to say, "Girl, you started this countdown WAY too early!"

I also hated waiting for a new school year to start. I would lay out my new shoes and uniform (Catholic school) days before the first day, just to have everything ready.

A watched pot never boils, they say. But when you are waiting for news, to know which direction life will go, it is very hard not to watch that pot. And with each passing second where no bubbles form (no boiling), frustration begins to build.

And so I have no choice but to wait. But I hate the wait.

Your examples of waiting set the stage- you have history with waiting. I hope your news comes
Soon!

I'm not a good waiter either. It's hard, especially when you can see the ripple effect of whatever you're waiting on. I hope you have good news at the end of this waiting period.

Waiting is hard indeed. I hope your wait time yields happy results.

I get it- I am not a good waiter either. Do you make up little games like to trick your brain while waiting (like I can only check again if...)? I hope the wait is worth it!

Your post is a great example of "show, not tell". the paper chain and laid out uniform are great symbols of waiting. I am also glad you kept whatever you are waiting for a secret to the reader. It kept me focused on the wait more.

I do hope your wait is over soon!

I love your play on the word "waiter" as if you receiving bad service because you haven't received what you "ordered." Sending you patience and good vibes as you continue to wait for your news.

Now I’m awaiting to learn the direction your life will take. You’ve left us w/ a cliffhanger, and you should know I’m impatient, too, when it comes to the waiting game.

I love the Tom Petty reference. In your examples, there is an element of preparedness for the expected. I wonder if it's not the waiting in your current circumstance that is bothersome, but the inability to prepare due to the uncertainty of the outcome.
