Courage Doesn't Always Roar:
The Quest to Be Better Each Day

#SOL21 Day 8 of 31: PETCO

Hand in hand, we walked through the parking lot into Petco, Megan and I. We left our own puppy home, even though Megan wanted to bring him and pets are welcome in the store. Our puppy, Teddy, thinks he's the BMOC (BDOC?) and barks at every dog that walks by our house, so I felt it best to leave him home for this shopping endeavor.

We weren't shopping for Teddy, as it turns out.

My children's school is having a pet supplies drive this week for animals in shelters. Treats and toys are needed and Megan asked that we go to the store to buy items to donate. Truth be told, there were so many more things I wanted to do and had to do, but it was important to her so we went.

Holding my hand, she practically danced through the lot, so excited. She especially loved to check in on the parakeets . The parakeets were the first place we went once inside. The sign on their cage says they love to play with their pet owner. I wonder how a parakeet plays?

We met two dogs while in the store- both very small and white. One dog was 11 years old and just leaving with his parents, the mom with a cane and the dad looking older too. We told them how our dog is only 6 months old and they wished us a lot of luck with our puppy. As we waited on line at the register, another little white dog was in front of us- only 8 months old. The owner said the dog was very shy. Both dogs were adorable and tinier than our puppy, who seems to grow by the day. He might be a whopping 13 pounds by now!

We bought three toys and one bag of treats for the dogs who don't have homes. We went home to our puppy, happy to spoil him with treats and cuddles.

You’ve grown into the dog mom role naturally. I smiled throughout this adorable trip and recalled the time I took Puck to Petco and he peed on a display. He stays home now.

It's never just a trip to Petco! It's always an adventure! The image of Megan generously walking hand in hand, wanting to get goods for the pet drive brought a smile to my face! thanks for sharing!

You know, I've never been to PetCo? We have one not too far away, and I've just never been! Your post makes me want to hop in the car and go there (if the pandemic is ever over).

I've never been into a Petco (darn allergies) so your sol story brings the store to life for me. I can envision Megan's excitement. What a good deed she did to purchase those items for the school animal drive donation.
