What would it be like to order a milkshake without any thought to calories, fat, sugar, and weight gain?
What would it be like to look at a menu and pick exactly what looks amazing to you without thought of health or weight or the consequences? Today we went to lunch to celebrate Megan's 8th birthday. The Burger Barn is known for awesome milkshakes and both Alex and Megan had one with lunch. Each came with a giant, thick delicious looking cookie. Of course I didn't have one. But in another life.....I would look at the milkshake menu and pick something big and fabulous. I wouldn't worry at all. I would enjoy it and feel not a shred of guilt. Do you pick what you want off the menu or do you think about what is the best choice for your health? Do those two collide for you? Or are you like me, always wishing you could have the burger and fries and milkshake too?

Sadly, I'm with you. I would feel way too self-conscious to order something like that in a restaurant. Love love love the joyfulness on Megan's face as she enjoys her fancy milkshake!

Order what you want. Life is too short. Throw a hour walk in there, and bam, it's worked off.

Happy Birthday to Megan! Her face in that first picture is priceless - those eyes say it all! She is so stinkin' cute, Kathleen! To answer your question, I usually just snag sips and bites from my Megan who's 15. I will in the midst of a hot summer, order my own ice cream - because, well, I have to!

Love those pictures! Such adorable kids you have. And those are some amazing milkshakes. I often don't order the fancy milkshake because, like you, I'm always watching my weight. But every now and then, you must indulge, and that's my milkshake philosophy.

I enjoyed this post. Being able to eat anything and everything is the main thing I miss from my youth.

When I was little I remember my mom would always make my dad something she called “cafe glass-eh” - which I now realize is a milk shake with coffee poured on top. Those images reminded me of that ;) I’m not sure I could handle all the dairy but they do look fun and satisfying for your children!
