Courage Doesn't Always Roar:
The Quest to Be Better Each Day

#SOL21 Day 11 of 31: I Said Yes

"Can we take Teddy for a walk around the block?" my son asked.
I had just come home from a long day of teaching and three errands after work. Miles to go before I sleep, as the poem goes. Dinner to cook, work to do....
"Sure," I said.
As we neared the turn back to our house, my son said, "I wish we could go another block but I know you are really busy"
"We can," I said and so we walked another few blocks with our puppy.
We chatted, we laughed, we hurried Teddy along as he marked every tree, fire hydrant and pole.
Out of a long day with many to-do's, I am so glad we took the walk. I am glad I said yes.

Take a pause. This should be some hovering mantra over all of our heads ... take a pause.

Sometimes we don't even know the moment that will restore us, fill us, return our balance. The company, the exercise and the fresh air were a restorative cocktail.

You do it anyway. Sometimes, I notice that I just need to relax and be led. Thanks for the reminder. Have a great day! :)

Amazing what happens when we let the kids take the lead. I sense your son knows about your busy-ness yet somehow knows another walk around the block is what you really needed!

Good for you (and Alex and Teddy)- it's not like the work will not still be there, right?! #momwin

Lovely slice of life, here. I love the title. Those moments, simple moments with Alex and Teddy are what it's all about. That's a gold star moment.

A micro vacation (as my husband calls it). Glad you said yes!

Yep, time well spent. A few extra blocks is always nice. I love how thoughtful your son was, considering that you might not want to keep going. So sweet.

That togetherness - a gift to always say "yes" to. Every moment so precious. My youngest is nearing 24 and we walk a lot together, often when I really don't feel like it. That he wants me to walk with him makes - to quote Frost again, "all the difference." And you have your boy AND Teddy! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! <3
