This is just to say
That my kitchen is currently a disaster as I try to reorganize cabinets to limit grocery store trips and use up what we have. This is also just to say I ruined a healthy eating day by stuffing cookie after cookie in my mouth while listening to weight loss advice on my phone. My report cards aren't close to done and I do not look forward to a rainy day in my house again.

I like how you echoed the line - was it Walter Dean Meyers who wrote the apology for eating the plum?

It was William Carlos Williams who wrote the apology for the plum.

Some days are just like that! Especially right now! And especially rainy days! Tomorrow will be better!

Your honesty and vivid imagery is much appreciated! Oh, I can SO relate. Coronavirus is wrecking our mental states! I thought these lines were so funny, about cookie after cookie while checking weight loss advice - I'm sure you didn't mean it as humor! But, you did renew my craving for a cookie. Let's laugh! It's all we've got ;-)

I love the repetition. There is a kids' poetry book called, "This Is Just to Say". It's an anthology of apology poems, and it's lovely. I feel inspired to write one of my own! And, I baked some cookies, and, of course, felt like I shouldn't share right now! Gone in 2 days. I feel you!

Even if you didn't intend for the reader laugh aloud, I so loved your humor and irony. A true slice of everyone's current situation.

I always giggle when I read your words, usually because I can see myself in them. I can remember shoveling in pizza while watching exercise videos!!

Sometimes you just NEED a cookie or two or three or four or the whole box! We tend to be so hard on ourselves. This is the first thing I have read of yours that wasn’t positive! It’s good to know you’re not super human... like the rest of us!
