Courage Doesn't Always Roar:
The Quest to Be Better Each Day

#SOL20 11 Years Ago

11 years ago, I put labels on wine bottles
and put them  into mesh bags
as favors for my upcoming wedding.
11 years ago, I couldn't have known
that I would open one of the 5 bottles of wine
we saved
because it was a global pandemic.
And there have been
so many days and nights in the house.
And all day long
my chest has hurt
and I've worried that I am going to be sick.
And if my husband gets sick
and we both need to be hospitalized,
who will take my children?
Because no one can be around us
if that is the case.
Turns out,
the wine from 11 years ago
took away any chest pains.
And I think it was anxiety
and not the Corona Virus.
And the report cards
that needed to get done
will wait until tomorrow
Because I needed a glass
or two
or three
of wine tonight
the wine
from 11 years ago
when the world was different
in every was possible.

Oh my goodness, yes to all of this. I know your chest pain, feel it too. And amazing how wine was an antidote.

Absolutely! Last night was a lavender-bath-and-too-full-glass-of-wine night. I'll say, "Well done on the self-care!" :) And thanks for the smile and for being human and for letting us all know about it.

Oh, I understand this. I had a couple glasses last night Facetiming with our son. I just need that semblance of normal...

Oh Kathy, how funny that we're both in the same place!!!! I just read your comment on my blog. I also thought I was getting sick; I felt exhausted and chilled. And now I'm better. We just had an NWP Zoom conference and used your flipgrid reading as the prompt for 73 participants! You were a hero and you didn't know it. They'll be another zoom conference next Weds and you should join. Everyone will want your autograph. Glad you're feeling better and the wine did the trick. What a great way you ended your piece. Be well. Love, Heidi

Tough times. A couple of nights ago when they told us we were quarantined to our houses minus shopping and pharmacies, I drank a few glasses of wine and watched a live Indigo Girls concert on facebook that brought me to tears.
Hang in there.

Cheers to you and yours! (Sounds like our anniversaries are remarkably close.)
