Courage Doesn't Always Roar:
The Quest to Be Better Each Day

#SOL19 Yawn

It's the day after the National Day on Writing and I should have something good to say here.
But (yawn) I am so tired.
Waiting for my sweatpants to stop spinning on "rapid refresh" in the dryer because tomorrow is Sweatpants Day during our Red Ribbon Week and I only have one pair of sweatpants at the moment.
Thinking of the full work bag I ambitiously packed, thinking I would have energy after my Daisy troop meeting to attack it (I don't).
Remembering the moment I felt like crying today when I looked around the classroom at several children who were off- task as I tried to teach a small group in math.
Need to get my kids ready for bed.
Ran out of time for a well-crafted Slice.
Some days, you just show up and that has to be enough.

What a realistic slice, Kathleen, that reminds us that perfection is NOT our goal! Life is messy! (And I'm smiling as I think of all the times the dryer did the job of "rapid refresh" that an iron used to do!)

Yup! Thanks for leading by example- showing up is a strong message in itself. Hope the rest of the week is brighter!

As Shana Frazin would say, "Thanks for coming to school today." You showed up and we are glad you did! I could picture the sweatpants swirling in your dryer and the students who were off-task in math. Life is messy and we have the best-laid plans. Sometimes, they come to fruition, sometimes they don't, Keep showing up!

I hope it's enough, because some days that all I have. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Those days happen, but even though you feel that you just showed up, just showing up meant the world to at least one student in your care. So even on our worst days, being present meant the world to someone. :) Tomorrow will be a better day.

This is so true. As you know I’ve been struggling to write this fall trying to keep writing until my balance rights itself. Hope you are inspired soon.

Here's a pat on the back for showing up, doing the Daisy group, caring about those kids who were off track but can try again tomorrow, and I am also including a coupon for a free nap. Use it whenever you want.

(free nap--never expires)

You deserve it.
