Courage Doesn't Always Roar:
The Quest to Be Better Each Day

Day 30 of 31 Water the flowers

I recently saw a meme that said something like "Stop watering the weeds....water the flowers."

The  weeds in my mind have been receiving so much loving care.  All the negatives seem to find that sweet spot of attention and sunlight and the good things I should be thinking about are overshadowed.

In a life, what matters?

As March winds down, it is the perfect time to think of spring and what will bloom in my life. What deserves my loving care? What deserves space in my head and heart?

A shift is needed. Time to water the beautiful flowers in my life and care a lot less about the weeds.

I agree with what you say on so many levels. The negative voices always seem to be the loudest, don't they? But sometimes, I think, the negatives do need our attention. Ignoring them won't make them go away. Tending our gardens means we must not only water the flowers, but tackle the weeds as well.

What wonderful advice this morning. I think that we need to hang this in our homes, in our classrooms, in our cars... too often we allow the weeds to get overgrown and they take away the beauty of the flowers.

One of my favorite mantras is "WHAT WE FEED, GROWS".
It fits your slice perfectly today.
Do we feed those weeds? Do we feed the flowers?
I think you're making the wise choice, my friend!!

This is a potent metaphor, Kathleen. Love these questions you pose: "What deserves my loving care? What deserves space in my head and heart? " I think it's a question for all of us to consider as we head into spring... thank you.

I have always seen you as watering the beautiful flowers in your life. I know there are struggles, but you have always seemed to me to be such a positive, joy-exuding person. There are times when the negativity takes over, and it is important to acknowledge that and understand what is happening, but I know you always triumph. Embrace the flowers.
