Hello my Slicer Friends. I hope you are well and safe and finding ways to get through these days.
I have been thinking about all that has stopped, all that is different, all that is lost. But really, there are so many things to be grateful for at the moment. Here is my list: -I am grateful that I feel well and healthy, grateful that I was able to exercise this morning and prepare myself a delicious and nutritious breakfast with food in my house. -I am grateful that all my loved ones are feeling healthy and well. -I am grateful for a comfortable home with enough food, drinks, and yes, toilet paper. -I am grateful for my cup of coffee this morning. -I am grateful for electricity, hot showers, running water and technology. -I am grateful for online communities like #TWT and #SOL to feel connected. -I am grateful that I am still getting paid and am not experiencing financial distress -I am grateful that I have books to read. -I am grateful that spring is upon us and we can get outside -I am grateful for slower mornings -I am grateful for my third grade friends and colleagues who make collaborating stress-free as we come up with a plan for our students. While I am not at all grateful for Covid-19 and the pain it is causing the world, I can choose my mindset in all this. Feeling the gratitude helps me to remember all that I have right now and puts me in a better state of mind. What are you grateful for today?

Kathleen, I so appreciate your list and the reminder to keep our gratitudes in our brains and hearts. Stay safe and well. Lisa

My gratitude list matches yours, line for line (well, except for exercise, which I haven't yet accomplished today). We could be in much more dire circumstances; the privileges of living in a developed country are even more apparent now than ever before. Hot running water, access to fresh produce...and yes, enough toilet paper to get us through at least another two weeks. Thanks for the "bright side" post today!

Thanks for sharing your upbeat poem. Looking closely, you have all those things one needs to feel safe - food, shelter, and toilet paper and a pay check and connections to friends and students. I am grateful I met you here. I am grateful for my writing community.

This is a wonderful mentor slice to help us prepare for another week that stretches us as writers, as educators, as colleagues, as families, as humans.

I have so much of the same to be grateful for! I am also so grateful to be able to call my mom every day and occasionally video chat with my parents. I'm grateful Shawn can call his parents. Not being close to them is so hard. I worry and yet I know we are all doing the best we can. I wish I had a village of tiny houses in my backyard though and we could all sit on our porches and wave. I waved at my neighbor today, we were both walking to get the mail, I was so happy to see him.

I love your list, Kathleen. This is the habit I practice each morning. It does something wonderful to the spirit to begin the day with a gratitude list. My gratitude list includes some of what you have on your list. My list would probably include knowing that I can connect with my parents and family in California and know that at least for now, they are safe.
